Thermal cycling
Packs heat under charge and discharge. Silicone keeps its seal through repeated cycles.
Vibration
Road vibration works at every joint. Sponge sections and bonded pads absorb it.
Flame retardance
Flame-retardant silicone compounds are available where the specification asks for them.
Compression set
A gasket that takes a permanent set stops sealing. Compound and section are chosen so the gasket recovers.
