Outdoor exposure

Sun, ozone and rain harden many rubbers. EPDM keeps its seal for years outdoors.

Heat inside the panel

Enclosures run warm. Silicone holds its properties at temperatures that soften general-purpose rubbers.

Where the specification asks for it, flame-retardant silicone compounds are available.

Ingress protection

The IP rating belongs to the tested enclosure. We design the gasket and grommet so the assembly can meet it.

What to send us

Send the enclosure drawing or the gasket section, the door or lid clamp arrangement, the cable diameters for grommets and the target IP rating. If the enclosure is outdoors or runs hot, say so. We come back with a compound recommendation and a quote.

Common questions

Which rubber is best for an outdoor electrical enclosure gasket?

EPDM. It resists ozone, UV and weathering and keeps its seal for years outdoors. Silicone is used where the enclosure runs hot or a flame-retardant grade is specified.

Can your grommets achieve IP67 or IP68?

Our grommets are designed for IP67/IP68 sealing applications. The rating is achieved by the finished enclosure under test, so we design the grommet to your enclosure and cable, and the assembly is tested.

Do you make gaskets for large enclosure doors?

Yes. For large perimeters we cut extruded profile to length and vulcanise the corners into an endless frame, which avoids a large mould.

Can you replace an imported enclosure gasket?

Yes. Send the sample or the drawing. We match the section and the material and make it in Howrah.
