Why is nitrile used for oil seals?

NBR resists mineral oils, fuels and hydraulic fluids very well, which makes it the default for oil seals and fluid-power O-rings.

Is NBR good outdoors?

No — nitrile ages poorly under UV and ozone. For outdoor sealing we recommend EPDM or neoprene.

What temperature range does NBR handle?

Typically about −40°C to +120°C, depending on grade.
